On September 10th at Bluepoint in Antwerp suppliers and users will meet at the ultimate networking event in the world of bioprocessing, biotechnology and (bio)pharmaceutical manufacturing.
After a succesful first edition of the Single-Use Event in Eindhoven last year, this second edition of the Single-Use Event will again focus on technological and product developments in continuous bioprocessing, cell culture systems and microbial systems.
Table-tops and speakers
‘The power of the Single-Use Event is the combination of table-top presentations with innovative products and the many interesting speakers’, says Erwin Boutsma, editor-in-chief of C2W and member of the organizing committee. ‘Leading professionals from the industry and the academic world are present to demonstrate the latest developments in single-use bioprocessing, but the event will also give ample opportunities to network or to do business.’ Topics that are covered include USP, DSP, PAT, data management, validation, standardization, service, chromatography in continuous bioprocessing, transition processes, QbD, Flexible/Multi-product facilities and much more.
Gerben Zijlstra, Global Technology Consultant Intensified & Continuous Biomanufacturing at Sartorius Stedim Biotech, will be a keynote speaker during the event. Zijlstra has been in the bioprocessing field for many years and is recognized internationally as an expert on developing novel tools for intensified cell culture processes at scale. ‘Process intensification, including intensification by continuous processing, has become a major trend in biomanufacturing’, he states. ‘However, developing intensified processes and performing them robustly at scale is not trivial.’
The event will be closed by keynote speaker Guy de Roo, principal scientist at Synthon Biopharmaceuticals. He is well-known in the field of antibody-drug conjugate production, with increasing attention to single-use technologies in recent years. De Roo will focus on the challenges to protect a product from contaminants in the environment of a production facility, as well as the protection of employees within that environment from exposure to what can be very hazardous substances. ‘While the use of glass or stainless-steel systems may effectively protect operators, significant equipment decontamination and cleaning validation is required’, he states. ‘As an alternative, single-use technologies offer specific benefits but also come with challenges.’
Join us at the Single-Use Event on September 10th at the BluePoint in Antwerp! Stay tuned for updates regarding sponsors, speakers and the program.
