Analytical Solutions, the new congress during Lab Technology 2024, is all about Inventing the Future of Analytical Sciences. The slot keynote speaker of the Congress Analytical Solutions will be Prof. Dr. Ir. P.J. (Peter) Schoenmakers. Schoenmakers is a professor at the University of Amsterdam and a member of the Centre for Analytical Sciences Amsterdam.
A summary of his keynote: A great fraction of all laboratory technology involves analytical separations. They occupy much of the attention of analytical scientists, which legitimizes the question, “Why are we doing this?”. Analytical scientists may dream of all the other fun things they can do instead of separating a few molecules, which (according to Hans Poppe) can never be in the same place to begin with. My friends the managers may dream of all the analysts they can do without. Should we just tell them to keep on dreaming or is it time we take action?
More about the speaker: Peter Schoennmakers is a professor at the University of Amsterdam and a member of the Centre for Analytical Sciences Amsterdam. He also is the Education Director of COAST. He is preoccupied with Analytical Separation Science and is about to complete a textbook on the subject together with Bob Pirok.
