On 13 December, the Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Vlaanderen awarded funding for research projects by junior and senior researchers. Among the senior researchers were a number of KVCV members, whom we highlight below.

KVCV member Annemie Bogaerts, together with Angela Privat Maldonado (both University of Antwerp), is investigating the effect of non-thermal plasma in cancer treatment in a four-year project: Investigating the influence on cell-to-cell communication via gap junctions in the tumour microenvironment. (€507.668)

KVCV member Steven De Feyter (KU Leuven), in collaboration with Marc Robert (U-Paris), will study the tuning of the active site in heterogeneous molecular catalysts via nanometre-scale spatial control and the microenvironment. (Total €723,250)

KVCV members Marlies Van Bael and Pegie Cool (also KNCV member) together with Sammy Verbruggen (all three UAntwerpen) and Pascal Buskens (Hasselt University) will start the research project PICaSSo: Plasmon-induced catalysis to stimulate the sunlight-driven reverse water-gas shift reaction. (Total €892,000)
